The UK charity Action on Hearing Loss has launched an innovative free hearing check app that can be downloaded from the App Store for the iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad. The new app is an easy way for families across the country to check their hearing over the festive period. According to the organisation, four million people in the UK live with undiagnosed hearing loss. So don’t worry about your hearing this Christmas and don’t miss out on the seasonal fun, check your hearing now.

It can be lonely at this time of year for people who have a hearing loss, especially if they are struggling alone and do not wear efficient hearing aids. Close family and friends can play a vital role in helping loved ones take the steps to get help. Combat the isolation and encourage relatives to get their hearing examined using the app and start the New Year feeling positive about life.

The app advises Brits who have normal hearing on how to carry on looking after their hearing; and for people who have hearing outside the normal range; a certificate is offered which can be taken to the local GP to get the adequate help needed. The hearing charity also provides lots of useful information.

This isn’t the first time the firm has launched an app for the iPhone, as they released one before the organisation rebranded its name as it was formerly called the Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID). It proved extremely successful at Christmas time as the number of hearing checks doubled over the festive period and it was one of the top ten most popular medical apps. Although the hearing app is free, SMS donations are available. Start 2012 with afresh and check your hearing now with the downloadable application.

As many as one in ten people in Britain are thought to be affected by a condition which causes pain in the feet known as plantar fasciitis with many of the sufferers unaware that they have a problem.

Plantar fasciitis (PF) happens when either long term damage or a sudden incident causes the tissue underneath the sole of the foot, the plantar fascia, to thicken and cause pain.

Factors that can lead to the development of this condition include being overweight and spending a lot of time being active. The condition is sometimes known as “policeman’s heel”, and runners are particularly prone to it as are the over 40s. It is also though that wearing unsuitable footwear can lead to a user develop the condition. Many sufferers find that the problem is worse in the morning and after long periods of activity.

If someone develops the plantar fasciitis there are a number of treatments available to help the affected area and manage the pain. To deal with the sudden pain that PF often brings, using ice packs or taking pain killing medication is many sufferers first point of call. Your doctor will also recommend you a programme of stretching and gentle exercises which are often the key to healing the problem.

Sufferers should be wearing good supportive shoes as well as arch support devices, which are available from sites such as PhysioRoom.com. Some women find that wearing high heeled shoes brings temporary relief, but this is not recommended as a long term fix.

If after a year there has been no improvement, your GP may recommend surgery. This is usually the last resort and the NHS says only 1 in 20 patients with PF undergo any sort of surgical procedure as using the other treatments will often help the heel to repair itself.

The rowing boat that Kate Middleton trained in on the River Thames in 2007 is now on the market and its proprietors, the Sisterhood rowers, are hoping it's going to raise a good amount of money for charity. The Duchess of Cambridge was expected to row in a Dragon boat for the cross-Channel race against the all-boys crew the Brotherhood. Because of security worries, she ultimately had to pull out of the gruelling race but her appearance on the traditional Chinese vessel, following her short split from William, still grew to be infamous and is one of the defining photos of her 10-year relationship with the Prince. The photos of her exercising, not on a rowing machine but on the Dragon boat along with a group of energetic attractive women, became well-known.

Now the piece of enchanting royal history is available and the proceeds will go to the Royal Marsden Cancer charity. The all-female rowing crew are hopeful that the Dragon boat will raise as much money as the dress Kate wore during the St Andrews University fashion show which developed a shocking £78,000 at auction. Since the challenge, the boat has completed races in the Amazon, Costa Rica and Venice. And also the royals caused a stir when they went head-to-head in a river race for their post-wedding tour in Canada. Practicing any race can be tough but a First Degree Fitness Rowing Machine is a great way to improve your fitness.

The Dragon boat images of the 29 year-old even appeared in the Hollywood picture which was released prior to the couple getting married in April last year. The founder Emma Sayle is tempting Brits to buy the bit of floating heritage by contacting it priceless as it “has been involved in more adventure, gossip, romance and good times than people have had hot dinner.” The boat is no longer fit to participate in river races but it does need to give up work to a loving home, so assist raise cash for charity and just try a Kettler rowing machine to train instead.

The British Association of Cosmetic Doctors is concerned that the newly proposed VAT on cosmetic procedures will discriminate against vulnerable women and certain cultural groups. The BACD has informed HM Revenue & Customs that by implementing the VAT and also charge for patients of cosmetic methods such as stomach tucks, liposuction, and a procedure called micro liposuction, it could actually victimise individuals who have been left with disfiguring dermatological issues like acne scars. The organisation, which encourages regulation within the industry and to make cosmetic treatments safer and much more ethical for the public, issued a statement of their opinion on the subject and also regarded it as an aggressive stance.
Dr Samantha Gammell, President Elect of the BACD, is apparently shocked that HMRC inspectors in Wales are demanding to examine confidential patient records for proof or their medical requirements. Currently, when Britons search for surgery from a doctor they are dealt with without judgement or even prejudice and with total discretion. However, the association is anxious that the obscene invasion of privacy could do otherwise than shield the health of the patient and that the public might be put off seeking the help they will need. The not-for-profit association claims there's no legal basis for the approach and that they will fight for patients’ rights. So if you desire chin liposuction to turn back the process of aging, do not delay and look for professional help.

The new government guidelines on VAT states that doctors performing purely cosmetic operations need to register for VAT and pass the charge onto patients to improve public finances. Therefore it's reported that the price of facelifts and also breast enlargements within the United Kingdom could rise by 20%. According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, over 9,000 breast enlargements happened in 2010 alongside more than 3,000 tummy tucks and 5,000 facelifts. So the quantity the government is going to earn is astronomical, especially given the fact that the average cost of a facelift is £6,000. For an expert guide on all cosmetic procedures and also for the latest news in the industry; have a look at lipo.co.uk today.

Make Bills Easier to Manage: Consolidate Debt

When someone consolidates debt, they are using a loan to pay for all of their bills and simply paying the one payment on the loan each month. These loans normally have lower interest rates than the original bills and it allows the individual to concentrate on paying the one bill each month instead of a number of different ones. It keeps things much more organized and there is less chance of forgetting a payment. The lower interest rate over time allows the individual to save money and to start over on a better financial pathway.

The different kinds of duvets -

So you’re heading for that new king duvet sale, but you’re not sure what kind of duvet you should buy. Here are some suggestions to get you through. There are basically two kinds – natural and synthetic. Natural goose down duvets tend to last longer; they are more comfortable and breathable. However, the disadvantage is that many people tend to have allergies to duck feathers, that is why they should choose synthetic fibers. Also, many people need to frequently launder their duvets, for whatever reason – in such cases, down duvets are not suitable, because washing them gets rather complicated. The main thing that you should know is that synthetic duvets are appropriate for people who are allergic to some natural materials. However, their fibers do not absorb and pull the moisture away from your body – they just keep your body warm. Down duvets tend to be more comfortable and breathable, making you feel warm without being sweaty.

With the development and advancement in lipo procedures, the basic technique involves making small incisions in the target area and inserting a micro cannula through these incisions. The micro cannula is a hollow tube-like needle that breaks the fat deposits apart and sucks them out by using a vacuum suction. When the fat is being suctioned out during liposuction, it is common for fluid to get lost during surgery. Because of this, part of the procedure is to replace the lost fluids to prevent the body from going into shock. Also a standard procedure prior to surgery, the patients donates blood should blood loss become significant.

When you exercise it is important that you drink fluids. It doesn’t have to be during the routine if it is short but there has to be some form of hydration because as you workout, you sweat. This needs to be replaced with something. When you are working out with a rowing machine and you intend to use it for a long period of time, stop for a few seconds and take a bit of water or other type of liquid to keep hydrated. Rowing machines give the body a good workout and may require you to stop during a longer session. Don’t take in too much to make yourself sick, but sip a little to keep your body going well.
